Mission Statement: The Shenandoah Ecosystems Defense Group is a grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and promotion of all that is natural, wild, and free in the central Appalachians. In the defense of these mountains and valleys and the life that they contain, we are committed to:

* public education about our region's natural areas, forests, rivers, and the threats that they face;

* active protection of Virginia's public lands through legal channels and direct action;

* research contributing to the conservation of threatened plants, animals, and biological communities;

* providing a resource network, enabling concerned citizens and organizations to join the forest protection movement;

* advocacy for the development of sustainable communities and economic practices.

Volunteer Projects: Distribution of Appalachian Voice, organizing speakers & other community events, office work
